The open field, highlighted by elegantly rendered Herati-patterned corner spandrels in French blue, pink, cream, yellow, and brown, is anchored by a striking navy central medallion framed by a jagged-edge motif in French blue and golden yellow.

The primary border is among the most beautiful of its kind — abrash French blue and baby blue grounds adorned with intricate geometric motifs in soft pink, green, blue, red, and brown, creating a frame of extraordinary richness and complexity. Secondary cream-toned borders carry finely detailed designs in abrash green that bring the whole composition together with quiet refinement. Woven by Kurdish artisans using the legendary compressed-weave technique that earned Bidjars the title 'Iron Rugs of Persia,' this 19th century example is a collecting opportunity of the highest order.
