The maker's mark “James Dixon & Sons” has become known as the symbol of all that is best in sterling silver and the James Dixon “trumpet trade mark” of all that is best in silver plated.
Silver plated EPNS cutlery is made to BS5577, and approved by the British Standard Institute or BSI for EPNS cutlery to BS EN ISO 9002, a quality control standard. This has a quality consequences, confirming that the cutlery is coated with 35 microns of silver with increase deposits on areas of greater wear. Therefore, have a lifetime, 30 to 50, year guarantee for every day use.

They surfaced to the market when most of the manufacturers are now defunct!?
