Elio Martinelli: Lighting designer born in Italy and Lucca.
After studying design and graduating in Florence after spending childhood and adolescence with friends who have been friends for life in Lucca. After the death of his father, Prinio, who was a hatmaker, Elio, who returned to Lucca and succeeded in the family business, finds his interests more creative than technical ones.
He then began to work on the interior of public spaces, dissatisfied with the type of luminaire available at the time (immediately after World War II), designing lamps for his project and making his own. started. In 1953 Martinelli Luce Was founded.
The basement on Piazza Bernardini in Lucca can only be accessed by gimmicks and stairs, and many of the Martinelli Luce concepts are born from this place, which Elio himself called the "laboratory."
Elio and Martinelli Luce, with the 1st Eurodoms held in Genoa in 1966, Gio Ponti Encounter with us will bring us to the limelight internationally.
