A superb early 20th-century silver-plated metal coffee and tea service by wmf (württembergische metallwarenfabrik) / geislingen, germany, dating to circa 1905. This art nouveau set comprises a coffee pot, teapot, milk jug, sugar bowl with cover, and a large twin-handled serving tray. The pieces are a variation of model no. 105, and display the distinctive wmf decorative style of the period.
each component features shallow relief moulding with stylised floral motifs and trailing ivy leaves with berries. The tray corners are particularly striking, formed into bulbous flower heads in high relief, characteristic of wmf’s sculptural metalwork.
this set is similar to designs illustrated in art nouveau domestic metalwork from württembergische metallwarenfabrik (antique collectors' club, 1990, p. 217), with an introduction by graham dry. This piece has an attribution mark,
