additional information:
the “london model” chairs by portois & fix, designed by prof. Josef hoffmann and/or robert fix around 1901, represent the refined craftsmanship of early 20th-century viennese furniture production. Crafted from mahogany, these chairs combine functionality with elegant aesthetic form. They were exhibited in 1902 at the “exhibition of austrian fine arts and decorative furnishing” in london, as well as at the international exhibition of modern decorative art in turin. In 1906, they were also presented at the “imperial royal austrian exhibition, vienna–paris” in london. The chairs reflect the transition from traditional to modern design concepts characteristic of viennese workshops around 1900. I have official proof of authenticity such as vintage catalogs,
designer records,
or other literature sources and take full responsibility for any authenticity issues arising
from
misattribution
