additional information:
the "london model" chairs by portois & fix, designed by prof. Josef hoffmann and / or robert fix around 1901, represent the artful craftsmanship of early 20th century viennese furniture production. Made of mahogany, these chairs combine functionality with aesthetic form. They were exhibited at the "exhibition of austrian fine arts and decorative furnishing" in london in 1902 and at the international exhibition of modern decorative arts in turin. In 1906, they were also presented at the "imperial royal austrian exhibition, vienna-paris" in london. They reflect the transition from traditional to modern design concepts that were typical of the wiener werkstätten around 1900. I have official proof of authenticity such as vintage catalogs,
designer records,
or other literature sources and take full responsibility for any authenticity issues arising
from
misattribution
