Guido de Boer's work attracts attention for its intensity within the geometric abstraction movement. His creations are marked by a minimalism focused on the black and white contrast between squares and lines, playing with perception. This first exhibition dedicated to the artist presents pieces on paper in formats ranging from A3 (420 x 297 mm) to double-print. A fascinating exploration of his approach can be found in his sketchbooks: each page is structured in patterns of 5 mm black tiles, testifying to his creativity and his ability to generate graphic syntheses between typography and abstraction.
On certain large formats, a 1 cm grid sketched in pencil guides the sinuous compositions, where the artist sometimes seeks to connect the lines. Where junctions prove impossible, the work reaches its natural conclusion. Observing these drawings is like entering into an almost hallucinatory visual game, where the nuances and rhythms disturb perception and create unexpected depth.
Two essential elements emerge from these works:
Moving back, we no longer see black and white but a gray perception, the result of the contrast.
Randomness often takes over the desire for structure. This piece has an attribution mark,
