Made of earthenware with a matte white glaze, the lamp features an elegant relief pattern of diagonal seashell motifs that wrap around its curved body and extend over the shoulder behind the lamp fixture. The unglazed portions of the design create a striking contrast, highlighting the intricate details of the relief work. The Snäcka series, introduced in 1944, included about ten ceramic objects, all sharing the characteristic shell pattern and soft organic shapes. The series was part of Upsala-Ekeby’s postwar production and reflected the studio’s commitment to high-quality design and craftsmanship. These lamps trace their origins to the Expo series, designed for the Paris Exhibition in 1937, where Upsala-Ekeby sought to elevate the artistic level of its ceramics for an international audience. Production of the Snäcka glaze continued from 1944 to 1949, and this lamp bears the deep stamp "A.L.T. Ekeby 18", signifying its authenticity. The lampshade isn't included.
