De sede ds-600 'snake' sectional sofa in patinated creame-cognac leather by ueli berger, switzerland, 1972. The de sede ds-600 'snake' sectional sofa is a mid-century modern piece made in switzerland from high-quality leather. Designed by ueli berger, elenora peduzzi-riva, heinz ulrich, and klaus vogt for de sede in 1972, the sofa consists of 18 seating pieces and two end/arm sections, totaling 20 components that can be connected with zippers to create endless configurations. Its unique, free-flowing design allows for unconventional furniture arrangements. The seating is upholstered in cream and cognac color leather, while the outer frame is brown felt, giving the sofa an elegant look. The high-quality leather is in excellent original condition, showing only minor signs of use and a distinctive original patina, which makes it an almost perfect vintage piece. De sede began as a saddler's workshop in klingnau, switzerland, before expanding into the seating furniture industry. In 1965, the family-run business became de sede ag, and its products have since gained a reputation for their attention to detail and user comfort. All de sede items are crafted from the finest materials, ensuring durability and longevity. This particular de sede ds-600 'snake' sectional sofa was purchased from its original owners in italy, who bought it in the 1980s. It is in good vintage condition with minor traces of use. Choosing mid-century furniture is a sustainable choice, as it promotes the use of what is already available, making it an eco-friendly practice. Since mid-century pieces are often of high quality, they can last several lifetimes. Many furniture items carry a rich history that can be felt through the signs of wear and tear, adding uniqueness and character to each piece. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
