Description: Outstanding reproduction of a English Queen Anne period antique circa 1705. This beautiful walnut bureau-cabinet features elaborate crossbanded and inlaid arrow-pattern bands to the exterior, the upper section with broadly moulded ogee shaped pediment surmounted by urn shaped finials and a formalized crown, the tow arched and moulded doors fitted with bevelled mirror panels and opening to three bookshelves, the lower section with sloping full front enclosing a pigeon-holes and drawers and with compartmented architectural columns and a sliding panel concealing secret recesses; the drop down desk features a tooled leather top with gold embossing over two long graduated drawers below on shaped bracket feet, with pierced brass handles and escutcheons. The collection was extremely high end and expensive. The original of this piece was found in the Right Honourable Lady Mary Howick's home Chillinghame Castle. The original retail price for this desk was over $100,000.00
