A very fine antique eight piece 'Sevres' porcelain Tete-A-Tete tea service, Paris, circa 1900.
The set having a blue ground with finely hand-painted panels of Neoclassical scenes of maidens seated in floral settings and accompanied with cherubs, there are alternate panels hand-painted with doves & musical instruments, the hand-painted scenes are heightened with raised gilded decoration. The set comprising a lidded teapot, cream jug, covered sugar bowl and a pair of cups & saucers and a twin handled tray, each piece is marked to the base with the Sevres blue interlaced L's and enclosing the letter A and marked "France". As with most of this porcelain marked Sevres from the late 19th & early 20th century it was made by other factories in Paris and is loosely known as 'Porcelain de Paris', this set is however of extremely high quality & was probably made by the Samson factory, the quality of the hand-painted scenes & gilding is outstanding.
One cup has historic professional restoration that is hardly noticeable, all the other pieces of the set are in very good condition.
