A very old delicate Chinese cork picture that shows a high level of artistry.
A watercolor paper painted in shades of blue is mounted behind a design of an island temple within a garden, a moon bridge, sailing boat and flying birds, all crafted out of very delicate pieces of cork. There are clouds and mountains off in the distance. The picture has a blue fabric mat and an elaborate wooden frame painted a greenish color with gold highlights. The picture has an old paper backing with a green wire for hanging.
MEASUREMENTS
8 ¾ in (22.2 cm) wide x 6 ½ in (16.5 cm) tall x ¾ in (1.9 cm) thick. Weighs 8.8 oz.
CONDITION
The picture and green-gold frame are still in good shape. A loose thread from the blue fabric that covers the mat is loose and hangs down into the picture. The old paper in back that secures the frame to the picture has come loose in spots, which has let tiny bits of paper into the interior along the mat.
A hand made picture that is artistic and rich with age.
