The … Read more Charming French porcelain asparagus table box with a naturalistic style and with carefully wrought details and soft colour blending.. The asparagus is string-tied into a bunch with a crimson bow and has a delicate, refined appearance. The underside reveals a blue asterisk mark, and is also marked "Made in France" in red. The asterisk likely indicates the maker, possibly from the Limoges region which would make it a collectible piece. The lid is lifted to reveal a storage cavity which could be used for matches, tea lights or other necessities for the dining room or kitchen, though the artistry indicates it was intended more for display than for function.

This is in wonderful vintage condition. There is a crack that has been expertly glued at one end of the lid. It isn't very noticeable from the outside unless you look for it. Once opened, it is more visible from the inside of the lid. In my opinion it does not detract from the piece as it was obviously lovingly repaired; it is functional and displays beautifully.
