He is … Read more This beautifully executed reverse painted glass image depicts "S. Michele". Saint Michael is an Archangel in many religions. He is known for protecting the church, guarding the Chosen People, accompanying the dying and being a source of comfort and strength for people in extreme circumstances. The rich jewel tones of ruby, emerald & sapphire hold true over a century later. Here, he is shown stomping on a snake. This act signifies his victory over evil and his role as a protector against Satan. "Ouis or Quis Ut Deus" translates to, "You are like God", or "Who is like a God". In its original frame.

The frame has different grades of coloration and natural wear that has happened over time. Some separations have occurred in the corners the frames, as shown in the photos. There is a small gap above the glass and the top of the frame, as shown in the photos. If I have missed something in my inspection of the piece, please contact me. The hand-hewn panels on the back make this piece even more special. There is a triangular hangar on the back, so this piece is ready to be displayed!
