Very large painting, oil on canvas, depicting a landscape of ancient ruins against a valley background in bright sunlight. The beautiful perspective and grandeur of this painting create a luminous atmosphere. A metaphysical painting reminiscent of certain works by Giorgio de Chirico, the famous Italian painter and founder of the Pittura metafisica (Metaphysical Movement) movement. Signed lower left G.Berthelot and dated 87.
