This Henri Matisse " Paintings and Drawings " very rare vintage 1939 first edition fine art lithograph print collector's French Modern Art hardcover book is an incredibly special and unique book to add to your library collection.
The hardcover art book with natural linen covered boards, embossed cover titles, and dust jacket is published by Braune & CIE - Soho Gallery Ltd. - London. The Contemporary French Painters Series published under the direction of George Besson and printed by Braun & CIE, Mulhouse-Dornach, printed in France in 1939.
It features a monograph survey collection of the artworks of Henri Matisse, with accompanied compelling critical survey text essay authored by Jean Assou assistant curator at The Musee Du Luxembourg.
Henri Matisse ( 1869 - 1954 ) the French born artist is known for both his sense of color and fluid aesthetic. Matisse is commonly regarded, along with Picasso as one of the most important artists who helped to define and influence radical Contemporary Art of The Twentieth Century. His mastery of the expressive language of color and drawing won him recognition as a leading figure in world Modern Art.
