This is … Read more Hugo Casar (1911-1975) is a well-known and collected artist known mostly for his depictions of clowns and children. This is a beautifully executed landscape (which I prefer, as his clowns and children are a bit creepy) in oil and looks like a German scene, framed in its original wooden, quality frame. There is some crackling in the paint surface (see photos or request additional photos), which coincidentally, looks much like an imitation of his tree structure, so it's quite a happy surface condition! Signed in the lower left. Frame is solid wood, with a gold front, stamped "made in Mexico" and appears to have been framed in Glendale, NY. Mat is a lovely cream woven textured fabric that appears to be silk.
