As everyone lives life fast, art can make us pause and really look at our environment and our rushed activities.
English realist artist E.Swain does more than just capture a bouquet in a pot on a table but allows us to mediate on the impression of it. The viewer is actually able to feel the technique of ‘nature morte’, or dead nature, where the exact moment of beauty is captured for eternity. The viewer in 1906 and of 2020 is drawn in and provokes perhaps similar reactions. These works by E.Swain represent objects of life and light standing still – still life.
