This pillow features an intricate, raised design created using the trapunto technique. This traditional Italian technique was made popular in the early 1500's and is related to English stump work. The process involves stitching through two layers of fabric and hand filling the cavity between the two layers with cotton or wool. This creates a design with a raised, sculpted appearance. Even though it is a very old technique, it appears very modern.
