Afra & Tobia Scarpa (attributed) Dining Room Chairs in Ash and Plywood, Italy, 1970s This exquisite set of six dining chairs, attributed to the renowned design duo Afra & Tobia Scarpa, showcases a harmonious blend of solid ash and elegantly crafted plywood. Afra Bianchin was born in Montebelluna, and Tobia Scarpa, the son of architect Carlo Scarpa, was born in Venice. They met at the Venice Institute of Architecture and later married. In 1960, they began collaborating professionally, establishing a successful design studio and working for companies like Flos, B&B Italia, and Knoll. Their work has received numerous accolades, including the Compasso d’Oro, and they undertook commissions for brands like Benetton. Their designs are recognized for blending modernist elegance and comfort with classical influences.
