This splendid piece by Northumbrian painter John Falconar Slater (England 1957-1937) is an arresting glimpse of pastoral life in Northumberland that appears untouched by the encroaching Industrial Revolution. John Falconar Slater was a renowned British landscape painter and one of the first artists in England to adopt Impressionistic painting techniques. Slater was born and died in the county of Northumberland, England, situated on the Scottish border.
