Bust features head of a woman with long, wavy hair, and adorned with a floral crown. Her expression is serene, and her floral crown symbolizes beauty, nature, and femininity which was a popular motif in neoclassical art. Barbedienne was a highly influential French bronze caster and founder and his "Founderie Barbedienne" became one of the most prominent bronze foundries in France during the 19th century. Bust has etched stamp "F. Barbedienne, Fondeur" and stamped maker's mark on reverse side. See less
