Annwn is the Otherworld in Welsh mythology, often depicted as a mystical, paradisiacal realm hidden from the mortal world. Described as a place of eternal beauty, abundance, and peace, Annwn is home to magical creatures, gods, and spirits. ANNWN is part of the Elysian Fields series.

ELYSIAN FIELDS is a new series by Erin Derby that unveils an intersection of fine art and botanical photography, inviting the viewers into a world where nature transcends its earthly origins. In this meticulously curated series, each photography becomes an ode to the ephemeral beauty of flora - Delicate, raw, and hauntingly alive. The compositions celebrate both the dramatic allure and the nuanced vulnerability of plants, capturing them in moments that feel otherworldly. ABOUT THE ARTIST:

Erin Derby (San Jose, CA) graduated from the University of California at Santa Barbara with a BA in both Film and Latin American & Iberian Studies. Her early career was primarily photojournalism. Over time she evolved a fine art cynosure balanced with considerable commercial photography success. In the latter, she continues to do portraiture, interiors, and still-life work. Her early fine art work explored expired 4x5 polaroid and 35mm film, with its painterly quality. The strong imperfections of these aged mediums as well as their eroded hues communicated an ethereal quality to her botanical images. Erin's botanical photography celebrates the beauty, fragility, and vibrancy of nature, capturing fleeting moments of natural life in vivid detail. She aims to create timeless images that convey a sense of awe and wonder when interacting with the natural world. See less
