The hallmark in the shape of a rooster (the symbols 800 or 950 in France were born only in 1838) , clarify at the beginning of the 19th century the quantity of silver present in the alloy : "1st" title for an alloy at 950 thousandths (as for these candelabras) ," 2nd" title for an alloy at 800 thousandths.

( Note : After the French Revolution, the need arose to clarify the official silver marks and therefore in 1838 the 800 and 950 marks were imposed for silver, to add to the multiple marks that silversmiths used to put, distinguishing only 800/1000 silver from 950/1000 silver : a rooster, a crown or another, depending on the city, with the numbers "1" or "2" )
