These are a beautiful matched pair of armchairs attributed to Joseph Gerte of Boston. The cabinet maker is known to be the best of custom furniture in New England. The chairs are made of mahogany the chairs are heavily carved with flowers on the crest of the chairs and carved with beading down and arms as well as the legs. The chairs appear to reupholstered with a very pleasant floral design ( lilacs ?). So pretty in person.
I have been a dealer for 38 years and specialize in high end mahogany in the Boston area and Joseph Gerte is the best of best and I have seen lots of it.
