although hans-agne jakobsson is best known for his celebrated brass and wooden lighting of the 1950s and 1960s, his later designs retained the same emphasis on controlled, atmospheric illumination. Model 299 reflects this mature design philosophy, combining sculptural simplicity with exceptional functionality.

the lamp features a spherical brass-coloured aluminium shade with a contrasting black perforated steel ventilation cap. Inside, a polished metal reflector maximises light output while directing a soft, glare-free beam. The shade is mounted on a brass wall arm with both pivoting and rotating joints, allowing the light to be positioned precisely where required for reading or accent lighting.

the restrained combination of brushed brass tones, black detailing and geometric form makes the lamp equally suited to scandinavian, modernist and contemporary interiors.

examples of model 299 are rarely encountered, particularly in this original condition.

very good vintage condition with only light signs of age and use. The brass-coloured finish remains well preserved, the joints operate smoothly, and the lamp is fully functional. Fitted with a new 150 cm electrical cord and uk plug.

about hans-agne jakobsson
hans-agne jakobsson (1919–2009) was one of sweden's most influential lighting designers. After training as an architect and cabinetmaker, he founded his own company in markaryd in 1951 and became internationally renowned for lighting that softened and controlled illumination through carefully engineered shades and reflective surfaces. His work remains highly sought after by collectors for its elegant forms, warm light quality and exceptional craftsmanship.

with its understated scandinavian styling, adjustable construction and refined lighting performance, the model 299 is an excellent example of jakobsson's later work and an increasingly uncommon swedish design from the 1980s. This piece has an attribution mark,
