This artwork was painted in the 1940s by a woman artist and active member of the Woodstock Artist Association and the Woodstock Art Colony in Woodstock, New York. Peggy Dodds, an American artist, was born in 1900 in New Jersey and died in 1987. She studied at the Art Students League under Kuniyoshi and Matteson in New York and was a Member of the Woodstock Artist Association, National Association of Women Artists, and other prestigious East Coast art associations. Dodds received numerous awards and her work was exhibited at several respectable and well known venues, including the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York City and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art in Philadelphia See less
