Set of four framed and matted original Japanese woodblock prints by Utagawa Kunisada (1786 – 1865) also known as Toyokuni III, created around 1855. Frame size 19.5" x 15", print size 13.5" x 9.5"
Print #1 depicting a Kabuki actor as part of "The Fifty-three Stations of the Tōkaidō" series. This series portrays scenes along the Tōkaidō road, a major travel route in 19th-century Japan.
Print #2 depicts the actor Ichikawa Danjūrō VIII in the role of Ebizako no Jū at the Ebiya.
Print #3 is part of the series "Seven Lucky Gods" (Shichifuku no uchi) and depicts the actor Nakamura Fukusuke I as Daikoku, one of the seven gods of fortune.
Print #4 titled "Nezumi Kozō" depicts Nezumi Kozō, a Japanese folk hero and thief, often compared to Robin Hood
