A 1960s original painting from Texas artist Leslie Larsson, who was well known for painting misfit, circus subjects. It is said that The Kennedy's were gifted two paintings of Leslie's for The White House nursery by president LBJ and his wife, Lady Bird Johnson. This painting is dated from the time that The Kennedy's were in The White House. It should be said that this painting bears a striking resemblance to JFK Jr. and could quite possibly have been used as the inspiration for this painting. There are several black and white photographs from Life Magazine which show the young JFK Jr. on similar toy horses.
A lovely example of Mr. Larsson's work, in the original frame. Measures 36.75 tall x 30.75 x 1.5 in the frame.
