A STUNNING valance from France this textile uses a gorgeous printed cotton with lilac purple, pink & green floral design that dates to c 1860. The bottom edge is dripping in the most wonderful hand made, wonderfully valuable, French passementerie trim, dating to circa 1820 in white cotton this trim is a very rare find! This lovely curtain is partially backed in a plain linen and cotton fabric, but part of the backing has been cut away in the center, as you can see in the photos. At this point in this textile, there is a loose, mostly open seam connecting two panels of the front floral fabric (there is a pin holding it together in the center). This textile could be hung as is as a curtain or for display, or this textile could be deconstructed for other projects! ( E92 )
Measurements: This lovely textile measures approx. 24 inches (including the trim) by approx. 86 inches
Condition: This textile is in as found, not freshly laundered condition. There are dirty marks on the left side of the backing and foxing on all of the backing fabric. There are tiny rust marks at the top back where this would have been hung by nails or tacks and some other small rust marks on the front. There are pale age, water and other marks on the front fabric that may not come out when this is laundered. Please dry clean or use extreme caution if you choose to clean this piece. The trim has some light damage. Please see above and photographs for condition details ( condition reflected in the price).
