A wonderful antique French textile dating circa 1820! The toile is called the Monuments of Paris, a wonderful rare find! This stunning fabric was once used as a bedding piece and is a ruffle, lightly gathered with a cotton tape at the back. Light weight printed cotton that uses a beautiful sienna purple. Some of the notable monuments included are Notre Dame, and the Colonne Vendome. A remarkable find. This textile would have hung from a 4 poster bed as a part of a larger set. Wonderful for hanging as is, deconstructing for small projects, reproduction or collectors! (toile E82)
Measurements: This lovely textile measures 70 inches by 21 inches deep. The ungathered bottom measures 120 inches.
Condition: This piece is in as found, not freshly laundered condition with light storage dust. There are 3 seams that run perpendicular to the length of this textile, so 4 panels were stitched together to form this ruffle. The two center panels have some small holes near their centers and along the bottom edge. There is uneven fading on this ruffle as well. Overall lovely condition for its age despite the holes! Condition reflected in the price!
