Hostess with the mostest! 1962 Hedi Schoop ceramic serving bowl/platter in the charming form of a lady dressed in a blue and green striped dress holding floral decorated bowls. Perfect for hors d'oeuvres and wonderful as decor when not in use. Hedi Schoop (1906-1995) was a Swiss born artist who moved to California in the 1930's and founded a ceramics studio where she produced her whimsical pottery designs that were usually made for practical use...form and function at its best. Her work fit right into the fun and colorful 'California Pottery' craze of the early and mid 20th century. Signed and dated at the base.
Good vintage condition...no chips, cracks, breaks or repairs. There is a substantial amount of crazing to the glaze that one might expect for a piece of this age. Makes a wonderful impression...and co-host!
Measures 13.75" wide x 8.5" deep x 10" tall. The basin of the bowl at the base measures 13.25" wide x approximately 7.25" deep x 1.75" tall. Each basin of the smaller bowls measure 4.5" wide x 4.5" deep x 1.25" tall.
