Opening its doors in 1941, Romanoff's was one of the most famous restaurants in Los Angeles. Owner, Michael Romanoff was quite the character. Restauranteur, bon vivant, actor, and con man, Romanoff would was always impeccably dressed, carried a walking stick, and spoke in a posh British accent. Romanoff would often snubb his guests, preferring to eat lunch with his dogs.
Despite Romanoff's demeanor, his restaurant was always buzzing with Hollywood stars like Humphrey Bogart, Charlie Chaplin, Marilyn Monroe, Sophia Loren, Cary Grant, Clark Gable, and many more! Sadly, Romanoff's closed its doors New Year's Eve of 1962, but its memory lives on.
