Entirely handmade by Touareg women, these incredible size rugs are used to protect the ground when the tents are set up, and to sit comfortably.
Composed of dried palm fibers finely split into small strips - reminiscent of very small wooden slats -, leather, fabric, threads\. We love its exceptional patina, which proves its previous uses and its former lives.
Everything is braided with delicacy and incredible patience, it is a long-term job, which obviously takes several months, given the spectacular size of the whole.
The mat has singular and unique graphic patterns.
We love the details of colored threads bringing that extraordinary touch to an interior.
The rug has signs of use and wear, making it a unique piece.
It is slightly warped in places because it was rolled up for a long time. It will need to be relaxed gently over time, with a little moisture and weight to relax the fibers that are too “coiled”.
