This is a mid-1960s French Provincial display and buffet Cabinet from top-brand cabinet maker, Thomasville. This is a one-of-a-kind handcrafted, quality piece of furniture. Thomasville is a historical American brand and this particular piece is representative of their finely crafted, solidly built, early work. The piece has a gorgeous, distressed (“fly specked”) wood finish and has a beautifully unique and stunning triangular crown piece augmented with a carved wood “leaf design” molding. You won’t find this anywhere and sets this cabinet a part from less expensive cabinet brands.
The cabinet breaks down into 2 pieces. The top hutch is for display and the bottom is typically used for holding your serviceware. This bottom section has 2 separate compartments. The measurements presented are for the whole footprint as measured from the base to the topmost portion of the crown. Specific measurements follow this cabinet description.
This cabinet is stunning and in excellent condition. Carefully maintained and with its original fine finish, this cabinet was moved only once from (and to) a smoke-free estate home as original owner.
There is a fully working display light inside of the upper cabinet to show off your special pieces on glass shelving. The 2 glass shelves are adjustable and have a single groove in the back of the glass shelves to display plates. The front has 3 beautiful beveled glass panels. The two outer glass panels are doors with antiqued bronze fittings and matching hinges. This is the original antiqued bronze hardware.
The cabinet has additional detailing such as rounded wood construction pegs on the inside and graceful bracket style floor foots. The bottom buffet cabinet has lovely floral embossing on the front doors, a “roll tray” drawer with full-extension soft close guides, and dovetailed construction. The tray can be used for silverware. The cabinets can store a 12 piece china set.
This cabinet is being offered at a fraction of its used, retail value strictly for the needed purpose of downsizing our home. I truly wish I could keep it!
