The betrayal of Judas for 30 pieces of silver, 16th century painting, scene painted on two reinforced oak panels on the back.
This panel appears to come from a woodwork or furniture panel because you can notice the rabbets around the edge.
Old restorations.
The 30 pieces of silver are the sum that Judas Iscariot would have received for betraying Jesus by handing him over to the religious authorities. This episode is recorded in the gospel of Matthew (26:14-16).
Judas, one of the twelve apostles, goes to the high priests and asks them what they will give him if he hands Jesus over to them. They agree to 30 silver coins. Subsequently, Judas leads the guards to the garden of Gethsemane and points out Jesus to them with a kiss.
