This sculptural lamp is made of brass, opaline glass and the original red transparent acrylic (the latter in acrylic is very rare as most are made of metal). The opaline glass provides warm light. The acrylic 'visor' can be rotated over the glass sphere to adjust the angle of the light.
The brass has developed a beautiful patina over the years and the acrylic “visor” shows signs of wear that come with age and use.
The modernist shapes and clean lines are typical of Stilux Milano, who also worked with innovative materials such as acrylic glass glass and metal. They were best known for their designs of table and floor lamps, often incorporating adjustable features and innovative lighting technologies. Their innovative and modernist designs are still admired and collected by enthusiasts and collectors today. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
