From a Manchester by The Sea, Massachusetts mansion comes this large outstanding antique French giltwood carved gesso mirror or overmantel. Regence style with four divided plates within a scrolled acanthus leaf foliate and floral decorated frame, figural angel head at the top, flanked by grotesque faces, a figural grotesque head at the bottom. The last two photos were taken before we removed it from over the fireplace.
Date - 19th Century
Approximate Size - 60 inches wide by 53 inches tall with a maximum depth of about 4 inches at the head.
Condition - We can tell has been professionally restored at some point as the gilt is not original and has been redone, not sure exactly what else was done during the restoration but it looks great. Please see photos for complete assessment. Please ask if additional photos are necessary.
