French cut steel hand mirror. A fascinating piece, said to be Eurydice's mirror, a prop from a production of Jean Cocteau's 'Orpheus'. The play, original title 'Orphee', was first produced in 1926. While a main prop in the play is a wall mirror, this hand mirror may have been on Eurydice's vanity. I've only seen the wonderful movie, I understand the play is quite different.
Either way, a wonderful unique item with and intriguing allure. Beautifully crafted of cut and sheet steel. Very cool.
