Decorated with a pair of putti or cherub … Read more Outstanding vintage pair of French or Italian hand carved wood wall shelves. Decorated with a pair of putti or cherub busts below seashells. Flanked by feathered wings and embellished with foliage. Depicting an opposing theme of happiness and sadness, with one cherub smiling and the other crying. Finely detailing to the figures, with classic characteristic faces, open mouths and teeth! Beautiful rendering to the hair and feathers. Condition is overall good to fair condition. Some chips to the ends of the feathers and leaves. General wear, darkening to the wood surface. The joints of the feathers at the top were reglued at one point. Measures 13 5/8" height x 13" length, 6 5/8" deep. See less
