The Barnaba lamp by Angelo Brotto, produced by the Spanish firm Fase under the name Planeta, is one of the most iconic lighting design pieces of the 1970s. Brotto, known for his avant-garde style and experimentation with innovative materials, created this lamp in 1974 in collaboration with the Italian manufacturer Esperia.
The Spanish company Fase, renowned for its high-quality desk lamps, acquired the rights to produce and market this lamp in Spain under the name “Planeta.” While maintaining the essence of Brotto's original design, this version incorporated certain adjustments to align with market trends of the time.
Thanks to this collaboration between Fase and Esperia, the Barnaba lamp gained wider recognition outside Italy, becoming a highly valued piece among collectors and vintage design enthusiasts. Today, it remains a sought-after object in the world of retro-futuristic design and artistic lighting.
Angelo Brotto (1914-2002)
