A refined expression of Italian mid-century craftsmanship, this set of eight “Pamplona” chairs by Augusto Savini for Pozzi stands among the most iconic seating designs of the 1960s. Conceived in 1965, the model combines architectural clarity with exceptional ergonomics, achieving a perfect dialogue between sculptural form and everyday comfort.
These chairs have been fully restored by our specialized workshop, respecting their original materials and construction. The solid hardwood frames—rich in grain and beautifully sculpted—have been meticulously refinished to bring out the depth, warmth, and natural variation of the wood, as evident in the photos.
The seats and backrests have been reupholstered in top-grade black full-grain leather, sourced from the same supplier who produces and samples leather for Giorgio Armani’s iconic leather jackets. This premium-quality leather retains natural grain marks from the hide, adding authenticity and sophistication while ensuring exceptional softness and longevity.
A key highlight of this particular set is the luxurious brass backrest hardware, the more precious version of the two historically available (they were produced in both brass and nickel-plated variants). The warm glow of the brass inserts enhances the visual richness of the wood and elevates the sculptural geometry of the design.
As shown in the final photo, one of the chairs presents a distinct darkened halo on the rear wooden panel. This is not a defect but a natural aging characteristic, likely caused by prolonged proximity to a heat source such as a radiator. Far from diminishing the piece, it reinforces the chair’s vintage authenticity and the charm of its original life.
The “Pamplona” chair remains one of Savini’s most admired designs, loved for its pure lines, precise proportions, and unmistakable visual identity. This restored set—rich in materiality and luxurious details—is ideal for refined dining rooms, executive spaces, or interiors that celebrate the beauty of Italian mid-century design.
