Art Deco tray, marquetry and glass, 1950 – France
Extraordinary tray made of wood with marquetry of fruit woods, lupia and glass, made around 1950 in France. It presents beautiful intricate geometric patterns that refer directly to the purest Art Deco. This style, which flourished in the 1920s and 1930s, in addition to being characterized by its geometric shapes, is characterized by its symmetry and the use of luxurious materials, as well as the emphasis on the contrast of colors and textures.
The design, based on a rectangular shape and a rhombus, enhanced by a perimeter, draws powerful attention. Among these shapes, a multitude of woods with different grains and colors create the background. The structure is completed with straight handles. Ideal as a decorative element in addition to being a functional tray.
