Sculptor probably active in France at the end of the 19th century.
The sculpture depicts a particularly famous subject by Jean-Baptiste Carpeaux (1827-1875), entitled "Le Rieur napolitain", but bears the initials "A.C." on the back.
We therefore believe that it is an unidentified sculptor who created a marble version of Carpeaux's sculpture which was probably in great demand at the time.
