Rare lithograph by surrealist artist Leonor Fini. This signed print is in perfect condition and from a very searched series untitled Satyricon and dealing with Antique Rome and its feats and bacchanalia. Sold with its vintage grey mount, this lithograph on paper depicts what looks like fragments of Roman wall frescoes, like those of Pompei. Those fragments depict a woman's beautiful face and dancers, in a style typical of Leonor Fini and which can be compared with the paintings and watercolors of Miquel Barcelo, among others. Dimensions of the sheet : about 17,9 x 12,8 inches (45,5 x 32,5 cm). Leonor Fini was the life of the party during the Surrealist movement like Leonora Carrington, Remedios Varo, Jacqueline Lamba and Claude Lalanne. Many consider her to be the most fiercely independent female artist of the 20th century. By the time she was 17, she had become familiar with Renaissance art and Mannerist painting. In 1931, at just 24 years of age, Fini moved to Paris and became acquainted with influential artists Giorgio de Chirico and Carlo Carrà. She also met and started a romantic relationship with Surrealist pioneer Max Ernst, who introduced her to others in the movement. Her work and her flamboyant personality attracted the attention of many of the 20th century's most celebrated artists and thinkers, including Salvador Dalí, Jean Cocteau, Albert Camus and Jean Genet, just to name a very few. She exhibited her work in many Parisian art galleries, including the gallery of Christian Dior before the fashion icon became a designer. I have official proof of authenticity such as vintage catalogs,
designer records,
or other literature sources and take full responsibility for any authenticity issues arising
