This is an outstanding pair of gilt Italian candle sconces, more ornate than many we have seen; they are estimated to be about 75 years old. The style of ivy leaf gilded sconces was popular in the 1950s and is still very eye-catching. The metal is silvery in tone, then appears to be faux-finished in a light golden tone, or gilt. Many of the leaves have darkened "veins" to bring out their design. The metal tubing haolding all the leaves is quite strong and wound most intricately.
They are both marked with an attached metal band, "Made in Italy".
