This is a stunning pair of large Italian ceramic table lamps inspired by the Bernini obelisk found in the Piazza di Minerva, Rome. The midcentury blue and white pottery features a well-sculptured Indian elephant supporting a tall obelisk with neoclassical style decorations, resting on lucite bases. The detailed finials and the new custom pagoda shaped blue and white shades make this pair particularly striking. These lamps would integrate beautifully into an haute boheme or chinoiserie themed room. Made in Italy in the 1960s for Meiselman Imports.
