This rarely seen monumental form is highly remminescent of the Russian Sputnik 1 earth satellite which was one of the early design inspirations for the Atomic Modern period. The sculptural body is comprised of a large column-like cone detailed with its deep vertical flutted pattern which is further highlighted by the brilliant Brass orb detail that creates an impression as if it were launching into orbit. This rare & unique Thurston design lamp is in exceptional original condition, completely intact and fully functional. No apparent signs of damage or blemishes aside from very slight wear to the Porcelain & Brass with just one very light ding in the base shroud near its backside (out-of-view). Original wiring and 3 light socket has been inspected and appears to be clean, safe and fully operational. The fabric shade is shown for REFERENCE ONLY @ 19" wide X 12" high and IS NOT INCLUDED - I can refer buyer directly to highest quality online supplier to purchase directly providing you additional color options with safer and more reasonable shipping than I can offer through Chairish.
