Ancient important sculpture, in patinated metal on a wooden base. Bust representation of a young girl with veil, signed on the back C. Dorn and dated 1884 by the sculptor artist,

Biography:

Carl Dorn (born Berlin 31 January 1831), was a pupil of the sculptor Gustav Bläser (Düsseldorf 1813-Cannstadt 1874) at the Berlin Academy between 1856 and 1888. He was involved in several important Berlin exhibitions and participated in the "Große Berliner Kunstausstellung" between 1891 and 1897. He was known for his portrait busts and figures on horseback and one of his busts of Duke William can be seen in the Brunswick museum.
