This … Read more Antique french 19th century louis philippe style gold gilt mirror with a beautiful ornate flower and rose shaped crest. This antique french gold gilt mirror has the typical rounded upper corners that make it a louis philippe mirror. The mirror has its original mirror plate and wooden back cladding. The frame features intricate etchings of flowers and leaves. The gold leaf gilding shows some slight red bole through the gilding, giving the gold color a warm touch. The mirror frame is structurally healthy and the glass is still in a very good condition. We can note that the mirror and the back are authentic and original and that the mirror is old. It shows some lovely tiny grey spots. The antique mirror has slight imperfections caused by wear and age, but is in a general very fine state. A section of the inner string of pearls on the upper left side has been previously restored somewhat roughly, but it remains unobtrusive. Note: the stripe visible in the glass is from the board used during photography—it is not part of the mirror glass!
