This antique dining server is complete with a raised gallery, two full drawers, and a lower serving tier. The entire server is comprised of bold quartersawn tiger oak and has remained in the original finish providing an alluring look and a warm depth of color. Mission oak finishes are often reproduced by refinishers and typically the new finish lacks a certain appeal that is found in well cared for original examples. Both of the drawers are fitted with hand forged copper pulls and escutcheon plates which have a wonderful patina as well as the original inset locks. The back of the server has natural oxidation from over a century of continual use and has still retained most of the original paper retailer's label. The label notes the original owner and their address along with the distributor as being Henneberg Furniture of Zanesville, Ohio. Any number of the leading Arts & Crafts furniture producers could have constructed this server as many companies offered paper catalogues to the public in the early 20th century where various furniture forms were advertised. We could only speculate as to who made it but this server does not lack in quality by any standard and is worthy of being compared to the works of makers such as Limbert, Stickley, or other widely renowned manufacturers. This server measures 40 1/4" wide x 18" deep x 40 1/2" tall. The height of the serving top is 38" tall while the lower serving tier stands 14 1/4" from the ground. See less
